Set on the shores of Derwentwater, the Mary Mount Restaurant is all about honest food, generous portions, and one of the best dining views in the Lake District.
Whether you’re refuelling after a day on the fells, stopping by mid-walk, or settling in for a relaxed evening meal, our menu focuses on comforting classics, seasonal specials, and crowd-pleasers done properly. Expect hearty dishes, familiar flavours, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels just as comfortable in muddy boots as it does over a glass of wine.
With lake views from the terrace and dining room, it’s a place to slow down, eat well, and enjoy the setting — no pretence, just good food in a great spot.
There’s nothing better than a warm meal after a day on the fells — and our kitchen is ready for it. From freshly brewed coffee and cake served daily from 11am, to lunchtime favourites like hot and cold sandwiches, homemade pies and garden-friendly bites, we keep it simple and satisfying.
And if you're here on a Sunday, come hungry. Our traditional roast with all the trimmings – yes, including roasties and Yorkshire puds – is a bit of a local favourite.
